Larger Works-
I painted this one of a kind painting plein air last fall, at Navarro Beach. The waves had slipped over the top of the dunes the night before, leaving these rivulets behind to dry, as they cascaded down the dune. 22” x 30”
I painted this plein air last fall in Mendocino. I hiked out to the bluffs and fell in love with the mist rising off the hills behind me. 22” x 15”
This is from my time at the Sierra Hot Springs, in the high country. 22” x 15”.
This is the larger version of this subject. All about those subtle shifts in color as we move from shadow to light to back into shadow.
22” x 15”
South of Mendocino, you can walk out to the bluffs and listen to the waves crash and smell the wet summer grass as the fog rises.
22” x 15”
Medium Sized Works-
This is from one of my many trips up the coast, painting in the Mendocino area.
11” x 15”
From my time in Cordoba, Spain, with all of its winding streets. 11” x 15”
I had to pull over and take this photo, when I saw it off the road on the way to Mendocino. A sunny morning. 11” x 15”
This is the larger version of this subject. From Alpine Lake up in the Sierras.
11” x 15”
This is the larger, quarter sheet version of this subject. From a beautiful foggy morning drive around the SF Bay. From outside of Crocket.
11” x 15”
This is the larger, quarter sheet version of the earlier sketch. From the streets of Cordoba, Spain.
15” x 11”
This is the larger Quarter Sheet version of this subject. From the beach just north of Mendocino.
15” x 11”
This is the larger version of a little square version of this subject. From the Navajo Nation.
11” x 15”
This is the quarter sheet version of this piece. Each is a special little version of the subject!
This is a great hike, full of ferns and the burble of the stream. I snuck down to it’s bank and took a photo of the light dancing in, reflected off a bank.
11” x 15”
Smaller Works-
I love these subjects that are almost about nothing. Just a vibe, and the color-play that arises from a patch of light in a meadow.
Taken from the same trip as “Time for a Swim”, at Alpine Lake.
7.5” x 7.5”
This painting came from a drive around the SF Bay on foggy morning. Taken from my own photo, outside of Crockett.
7.5 x 7.5
I love all the crisp edges and sunny light in this subject, from Alpine Lake up in the sierras.
7.5 x 7.5
This is the first version I did of this eternal subject.
7.5” x 7.5”
Here the afternoon sun cascades into the little bay, under the bridge above Russian Gulch.
Years ago I took this photo in the valley. Half Dome was originally in the background, but I cropped it down to this little intimate story about this log, half in snow and half in warm light.
7.5” x 7.5”
This little piece is all about capturing that glow from the High Sierras. Steam rising up from a meadow through the trees. Sun peaking through the trees.
7.5” x 7.5”
All about those southwest shadows, and the big shapes against the sky.
7.5” x 7.5”
From my travels along the northern Californian coast, up by Fort Bragg.
7.5 x 7.5
watercolor, 22” x 15”
